Intricate cryogenic cables, designed and manufactured for the next generation quantum computer.

When a leading quantum computing hardware maker was developing their next generation quantum computer, they called on Tekdata Interconnections’ Cryoconnect team to support the design, development, and manufacture of intricate cryogenic cables to power their systems.

Tekdata Cryoconnect cables are designed to operate in extreme conditions, delivering reliability and performance that meet the rigorous demands of cutting-edge data centres. These particular cables were required to operate in extreme temperatures as low as 4mK up to 120°C.

The complexity of the project not only lay in the use of fine wires such as NbTi/CuNi, BeCu, and Cu, with enamel dielectric insulation, and ranging from gauges 27 SWG (0.4mm) to 42 SWG (0.1mm), but moreover, we had to design and incorporate a variety of custom woven ribbon designs for the assemblies using Aramid fiber. These included designs like the 12 twisted pair ribbon, 4 twisted pairs + 4 twisted triples + 5 single-wire ribbon, and the 24 twisted pair ribbon.
